Comparing ratings between chess servers

Cheat detection system may have an impact too.
way more cheaters on chess.com in my opinion, so it's harder to get a good rating.
#21 This is like saying BOTS on Lichess make an impact on the ratings. The effects of both of these is negligible.
Thanks for the explanation, Thibault.

On a separate note and apart from the online ratings:
I frankly don't understand why FIDE doesn't try to make their rating the only one used. Instead we have a lot of national ratings. The Americans have their USCF, the Brits have the ECF and here in Germany we use the DWZ (and probably a lot more other rating systems in other countries). Why not offer to the national chess federations a "New Elo" based on Glicko-2? The national federations could still be responsible for calculating the ratings on a national level and not blow up FIDE's work load but there would be only one rating that matters and that delivers worldwide easily comparable numbers.
What about playok.com/? I reached 1800 there playing 3mins blitz but it was really difficult and might be an equivalent of getting 2000 on lichess.

It is for historical reasons. The USCF was first with elo, then other federations folowed. Then FIDE followed, but only for players above 2200.
Nowadays one central FIDE rating would make sense.
Centralised calculation by FIDE is actually cheaper than all separate calculations by the various federations.
Very well written, I have thought of ratings before
as a way to measure the performance of a player
in a series of games.
The simple idea that it is behind its that if you win
against stronger opponent it is reflected in the rating points by adding points, a win its a plus and a loss a minus and this is done over a series of games always considering the skill of your opponent, this is not the mathematical explanation rather the player one.
In general if you win you always win points but you win more points against stronger opposition and same principle applies if you lose you lose points but you lose more points by losing against weaker opponents than opponents of your level.
@tpr Problem with Elo rating is that it requires minimun one FIDE arbiter and trainings are not that frequent. So having game sanctioned onl nationally with national arbiters is easier. Also lowest FIDE rating is 1000 which might be an issue for pre-school kid tournaments.
