Thoughts on takebacks?

If I feel I can still beat you after giving you a takeback, then I'll give you the takeback. (Just kidding.)
It's two clicks. I turn it on/off mid-game all the time. Nothing but excuses to keep from taking responsibility yourself.
Am I missing a button? The shortest I can find is 7 clicks: 2 to duplicate the tab so I don't leave the chess game, 2 to reach preferences, 2 to click on "game behavior" and then select the option, and finally another to return to the game. It's actually not that easy.
@DunnoItAll you're getting trolled man... this kind of person will always give you an answer no matter what you say.
Just let him annoy his opponent with illegal tackback requests. It's his reputation.
Yes you are missing something. Make a bookmark to the game behavior tab and put it on your bookmark bar. Open it with a click and click the confirm setting you want with a click. The mental gymnastics you are going through to avoid being responsible for your chess moves are what's not that easy.
Dude, I've maybe asked for 3 takebacks in my entire history on Lichess.
I think you are going through quite a bit of mental gymnastics to avoid thinking about the moral implications of your attitude. I gave a longer more well thought out response earlier, and @CafeMorphy just responded "nuh-uh lolz I won't even read all that". Talk about avoiding thinking through things. But you are right, if I was super anal about my chess rating, I could put a link in my bookmarks bar to make it a bit easier to change that behavior. I'm not sure I care enough about that, I'd rather people just were more easy going, but I'll try that out and see how it goes.
I assure you, I've thought about the moral implications of my attitude. I have even expressed the outcome of that thinking in this thread. I am quite satisfied with it. This will be my last post in this thread. I stand by everything I've said in this thread 100%, so feel free to refer to any of my previous posts to see how I might respond to anything further in this thread if the need arises. Good day.
I'm pro takebacks.
The most obvious comparison to an OTB game would be if someone accidentally knocks over a piece or accidentally touches it when they had no intention of moving that piece, happens every now and then and its never ever been made an issue of, not on any level or any time control.

If its not what the player meant to play therefore you should just give them the takebacks, I rarely make mouseslips because I use an actual mouse but whenever an opponent makes an obvious mouseslip in any time control other than bullet I will offer them a takeback, theres no point in playing without the takeback.

And this whole noobs v experienced players thing is the biggest load of bullsh*t I've ever read, better players will absolutely not be more inclined to not give takebacks, just look at any youtuber play, if theres an obvious mouseslip they would immediately give the takeback.

Whenever I do make a mouseslip and my takeback is granted I usually decide to add 30secs or 1min to my opponents clock as a form of gratitude. Maybe something like this would be the best way to deal with it, a takeback automatically gives 1min to the players accepting the takeback.
