Thoughts on takebacks?

One of the unexpected gifts this game gives me as I play are skills I take with me in everyday life. The first major one I realized was one that applies to everyday life in the street. It's about your decision making skills. I found mine improved greatly in certain ways and they derive from playing with no "takebacks". I no longer eagerly grab a piece the second I see what seems to be a good move at first. It's "touch and move". This is for a reason, like so much in this game is. It makes it more realistic. In the street, you see young men fresh out there who speak without thinking it through first, and by the time they realize the mistake in it they just made, another young man reacts prematurely and next thing you know two lives are gone forever. One of those kids will never get the chance to grow from his mistake. The other might learn from his after it's too late and he's ten years into a new chess career that will never see the light of day again. There's no takebacks in the streets or anywhere else where it counts. When you let someone get a "takeback", you're taking away from him the game giving him the opportunity to learn this lesson the easy way. I was playing a new guy once, and I got his queen because he got distracted. Now he's got this look on his face, I tell him, "I'd give you your bitch back, but you got potential, so I'm not gonna do that to you."
If that doesn't work, I read from a world champion chess player once that the rule is once you grab a piece, you have to - not just move it - but move it in the direction you started moving it in. Just think before you move. The only way you get better at making important decisions is by practicing and being held accountable for your decisions. Let me know if you agree, ok?
Chess in general is rather a matter of psychology and perfection. For those who enjoy more the first, takebacks guarantee an "honourable fight". Those who prefer later, do not accept "second chances to victory". Both have their point. In my opinion, takeback propositions should simply be handled to the players will. If you don't like them, reject them. If you think you are winning anyway, grant them.
