Well, sweetener as flavor enhancer for sugar? This is too weird for me^^. Just put the right amount of sugar in what you eat, but as you said, sugar is only bad when you abuse of it. I think this could be a general rule for almost everything. Even with abuses in fact.
If you're able to stay on a healthy amount of sugar, everything is allright, but for some people who struggle with that, the mix of sweetener and sugar is a good help because it gives them the possibility to eat bigger amounts of sweet things and feel mentally saturated.
Well ok, i wasn't thinking about the diabetics, or sugar addicts. And of course for those people sweeteners are great.
But you know, thank god i'm not diabetic nor sugar addict, so no need for me to eat sweeteners.
@rockdesire artifical sweeters are not better as sugar. It makes the body produce insuline, because he expects sugar but he wont get. => diabetes

Natural sweeters, like honey, are indeed better than industrial produced sugar. Its evolution. Our body is not ready yet to digest long chained carbs.

Edit: short-chained, 'natural' carbs like in fruits and vegetables are of course absolutely good for the body. You should get used to eat an apple at the end of each meal.

Edit 2: if you drink much water and if you do sport the body shits and sweats long-chained carbs out, otherwise, if lucky, it goes into the body fat and if unlucky it goes into the venes and into the bones... you see (or should i say 'feel') the results when you are 70, or earlier.

So, as this topic is about food, i have to say that a good pizza with a good wine can be great too.

@SelfmateMan , thank you for the link.
@SelfmateMan I still think it's a myth that sweeteners make the body produce insuline. There are different opinions but I read a lot about it and there is no proof for such a reaction, and I know my body very good and I know how it feels if I produce insuline.
If I only take some coffee or tea with sweeteners, there is no effect at all, and that's a proof for me.
I don't say sweeteners are healthy, but they are the better choice.
Honey is nothing else than a mix of fructose/glucose, just like normal sugar. Even too much fruits are bad, because they contain lots of glucose too, not only fructose, and too much fructose is also bad.
@rockdesire you may be right, i dont know. im just blindly repeating what my father and mother (both doctors) told me once :)

If everything you do 'wrong' is use artifical sweeters, go, do it :)
My point is to make some people aware that pepsi light is not at all better for the body than normal pepsi. Its both shit :)
