I AM F.... TIRED OF PLAYING EVERYDAY VS CHEATERS IN DAILY/WEEKLY TOURS

Just play people you trust. Thats what I do. If you dont know any then just play 3 min turney.

As for classical, its usually apparent if someone is cheating or not by their bullet rating in comparison (even tho some dramatic people disagree) it works for me, and the number of gamesthey have played. Dont play new members.
Im sorry but I have to agree with those who are concerned about this.

I have reported someone who in my view, and other peoples was clearly cheating.

I sent a number of his games on two occasions and nothing happened until I spoke to a moderator directly.

Then, and only then was he marked.

I appreciate that it is a difficult issue for any internet chess site, but I do not think lichess does itself any favours by "feeling like closing this debate" and so on.

You and other chess sites have a big problem and it does no good to try and minimise it or critisize people for bringing the subject up.
I rather they doubt they bring it up for fun, they do so because the problem is serious and lichess appears to want to use various ways to hush this up and deny it.

Im sorry but it wont go away, perhaps yourselves and other chess sites should actually cooperate on this as it affects all of you.
'Closing the discussion' is what got my goat, among others, under another pseuodynm many months ago. It's good to see that this thread is being kept alive at least....It's also good to see that the thread is still healthy and people are respectful. The two obviously go hand in hand.
Yes, a respectful discussion is more likely to be kept open, as well as a constructive one which is actually going over new territory. A thread is more likely to be closed if it's either becoming needlessly hostile, or just repeating the same old things over and over again.

@Larissbug if you had the figures you would genuinely see that online cheating at least on our server is really quite insignificant compared to the numbers of games and players playing every day. Many people can often feel enraged at losing a game where they are sure their opponent cheated, and create a thread about how much cheating occurs in chess, but they don't have all the tools we do.

I don't think we have ever criticised someone for bringing it up, although it can get very tiring having to state the same thing every few days over the past 5 years. Likewise, we haven't minimised the issue, otherwise we wouldn't have the stringent security checks we have now, as well as being in the process of (as I'm fond of thinking but as may not be technically accurate) developing an anti-cheating AI detection.

If this thread is closed, the only reason why would be because of the circularity of the thread, and because there are other resources where someone can go to learn about cheating, such as the FAQ or past forum threads.

Cooperation is a great idea, and I think everyone at lichess would be on board with cooperating with other chess sites out there in cheat detection - maybe not sharing programmes, but at least letting other sites know of potential threats, risks and exploits. We have actually informally tried such a method before, but our email to another affected site went unanswered and as far as we know, no cooperation on that issue came forward. So it'd be nice to try, but realistically it may not happen.

@angrymonkey I had suspected, but now I think I am quite sure. Good to see you!
It is absolutely bizarre how people can look so stupid, foaming at the mouth because some other loser cheated, presumably over imaginary numbers that don't matter. Talk like an adult.
Just because someone is marked as a cheater doesn't mean they cheated in every single game. Are points refunded in games that were not cheated? And how far back in the game history after a player is caught are refunds given?

I've received about two refunds and pretty sure I've played far more than two cheaters here.
Lichess is super in finding players who use engine. Thanks so much to Thibault and Lichess Team for fantastic efforts on solving it.
