Swiss tournaments are on Lichess

I helped testing out this morning, and it really works a treat! All the known bugs from the past days are solved and late joiners/early quitters are handled nicely. It's just like any other Lichess tournament. The person getting multiple byes at the bottom as mentioned in #244 was a little weird though, I think that's worth looking at. Especially at longer time controls getting more than one free round might be annoying.

And I noticed the tournament result doesn't show up in the profile timeline, normally it says something like "Took part in 1 tournament; Finished #" etcetera. Is that something which will be added after the beta phase?

Finally, I'd like to help translating the Swiss pages to Dutch, but maybe that's something for after the beta phase as well? For now I can only find the header (crowdin.com/translate/lichess/84/en-nl).

Hi. My tournament was set for six rounds. Not four. There were still legal pairings, at least according to US Chess Swiss rules.

@schack2 Hi there, are you sure all seven of you were online for the potential 5th round? It does appear as the user with the two byes in a row may have left (which I would understand by the way), and after that pairings are impossible. If that's not the case, I'm not sure why it stopped pairing. That is of course if we're talking about the same tournament: lichess.org/swiss/WPU5gToH

We did a test today with 23 players and 6 rounds (time control 5+2). Some people came late, some went away earlier. Also someone lost connection and could join again. As far as I could see everything worked perfect. We didn't have people with more than one bye. It's really working great!

Just one little thing: In the first round someone with one of the highest ratings got a bye, where you would expect that the person with the lowest rating would get it.

Ran a firt tournament today, it was soooo nice, thanks a lot Lichess !!

Does anyone know if threre will be a special place for announcing the swiss tournaments to come? I mean something like the arena timetable, for us to know and join the teams, etc

Hi, i just create a swiss tournament and i set the total rounds to be 5. However, at this page it show only 2 rounds.
Anyone can help?

@xh4823 Hi, that's because only two people registered so more rounds are by definition impossible. If more people join, the number of rounds will go up to eventually your set maximum of 5.
