Please can IM and GM prefixes on names be stopped

yes, i agree @blackzombie JannLee and allyouneedisluft are brilliant zh players, better than NM, CM, and all other titled players. Those r only a few. LM Rochade-Augsburg holds a 2500+ classical rating, LM Lance5500 good all around in variants, and even allyouneedisluft, a 2800 zh player, is brilliant in bullet, three check, and others.

LM @vovaches has 5 top50 and 4 marathon cups at the moment,
LMs @GoGSWarriors_30, @themurdercastle have 2700+ best bullet rating, LM @Blitzstream-twitch is in top10 blitz, LM @Atrophied is also great zh player.

I mean at the end of the day aren't the majority of players on the site playing Speed Chess variants? GM title or not everyone makes mistakes especially in Bullet. If people have time to think of something like "oh it can't be a bad move" while in Bullet vs. GM title or if a fake GM title is giving some sort of psychological advantage during the game I think the individuals head is in the wrong place anyway. My vote would be to keep the titles just to force players to deal with those distractions and better themselves as online players dealing with the psychological warfare if that's how some are taking it.

Variant masters should be eligible for special titles as well. Since theres no possibility for an official title , lichess could give equal opportunity to the other variants Imo.

As for LM titles, I think most of them are well deserved. Infact I dare say some players would be better served having a more defining title like LGM for example. I can think of one player Lance5500 :)

Assume that everybody is a liar. Even the real GMs with their real prefix. Play your best against everybody.

#21. Yes, I know requirements for LM are very high and most are at least IM strength and probably fair players. I was thinking mostly of the case of LM Chessinstinct that managed to cheat here for a long time (now caught).

You can always look at the oponents rating to have an idea of his level. And if you still think that affects the way you play your opponent there is an extention for google chrome that covers your opponents name and rating, so you don't have any kind of idea who you are playing, his or her rating and whether your opponent is titeled or not while the extentin is active.
I'ts really easy to use and free.

I honestly don't see a problem with this. Having an GM IM FM NM or LM title next to your name makes the person claiming to be titled look silly. And I do not see it being possible that lichess is going to hunt every person with that prefix down and make them change their username.
