[Feature request] 15 seconds + 0 games. ¼+0 games.

@Brynteifi, yes, if you didn't guess your opponent's move, your time starts ticking. However, if you are an experienced player, you can only spend 0.3 second on playing another move.
@Brynteifi:

In the case of a recapture, yes, that is true.

Recaptures are an interesting case in that if your opponent doesn't capture, then yeah, your time starts burning.

However, that also makes them the one of the safest premoves, in that your premove only legally goes through if your opponent makes the expected move.

If you make a premove that's not a recapture, though, there are fewer things that will make the premove illegal.

Instead, you just have to deal with the other issue, which is that your premove might go through, and be an awful, awful move (the most infamous example is people who premove a schematic opening like 1...g6, 2...Bg7, 3...d6, etc. as black, and a white player plays 2.Bh6?? hanging the bishop, but when Bg7 is premoved, white just gets to take a bunch of material for free)

This sort of thinking about the balance of risk/reward for premoves is one of the different skill sets that acquire huge importance in time controls like UltraBullet.
@a_pleasant_illusion, also in a conversation, while your Vis-a-Vis is speaking, you have to predict their emotional behavior, and you might also change your emotions: "face expressions, gestures, etc.", according to what you predict. If you are correct and your opponent says, for example, something rude, then it means your premove (more cold face expression, for example, which you did before observing an answer) worked. But you may guess wrongly, and your opponent says something warm. So you have to change your facial expression from cold to something different -- the analogy with a failed premove.
@Chesstroll_Berserk: Indeed.

As we have both said, I don't think we really disagree much, if at all.

If we do, it's just about the exact degree to which conversation is an apt analogy for UltraBullet.

I think it's a little less apt than you do, but on the major points we agree :)
cool! 1/4+0 was invented! now i have an idea to make 1/8+0 ! it could be called mega-bullet. just a idea!

-Indomega1K :)
Please, to every developer out there: never seriously consider the idea of making 1/8+0 chess. Please don't.
Instant chess should be a thing. Why was it only an April Fool's joke?
