Any interest in a new type of tourney - Non-anonymous ?!

@Kingscrusher-YouTube

Thank you for your interesting posts. Your points make sense but as I've understood Lichess nature - Lichess is against discrimination of any kind.

@H3PO5

Yes, this is the perfect option.

@ShrayanM

Great and very smart post, Shrayan.

Sorry to everybody in this topic for offtopic,
but how have you been @ShrayanM?

I hope that you keep improving as fast as recently and that you will get top10 and maybe even top1 marathon cup in the future!
@Lance5500 Agreed!

@Tangelo777 No need for such abrasiveness... don't worry, I don't think we're ready to move heaven and earth to implement a possibly-nice-to-have feature.
@Toadofsky
I believe it's a great quote and it's relevant to be added here. I never meant to offend anyone.
@Lance5500 You have the right not to reveal your real life identity online and to play anonymously. So does everyone else.
There have been many fine points previously stated.
My question is, does it matter at all to know who you are playing against given that every move is an intellectual puzzle regardless of the opponent?
Benefits of knowing who you are playing against include, 1) Their strengths/weaknesses in lines 2) styles of play, 3) preferred time control, 4) other?
These matter if ones goal is to be skilled at chess in relation to other people.
But if ones goal is to be skilled at chess in relation to oneself, so long as you are provided with opportunities for improvement and mastery, does it matter who your opponent is? (a rephrased version of the question)
I wonder how they would enact that, like if you give your true identity they give your account some special symbol and only people who have that symbol can play in certain custom private tournaments players like KC can create? I'm quite happy playing against anonymous players myself, kind of comes with the territory when playing online. Also many players might not wish to have their accounts known if playing online, to avoid giving away their otb prep. If they gave people the ability to set up such tournaments I would have no problem with it, but it would take time away from developing other features more people might be interested in, which would be my concern. It would cut back on strong players making multiple accounts and deflating everyones rating true, but how many people actually want to give their anonymity away.

edit: You know KC you could create a real name group here on lichess, where everyone who joins has to identify themselves, and have tournaments where you only allow members of your group to play. That way you have a real name league and don't take time away from the lichess developers.
My advice to @Kingscrusher-YouTube is team up with @BitChess and sponsor a titled/coach/streamer only tournament on lichess. I don't think general players mind so much if there is an obvious promotional benefit to such an event.
Well there is a way to make sure the players that want to play in such tournament provide their real name but it can still remain anonymous on the lichess website or the user can choose to have their real name shown on lichess. I agree with NM upandcomer that there could be a special symbol for players that provide their real name to the lichess team. People can email the lichess team their driver's license or some other form of id proving that they have a real name.
