About the Lichess follow system

If a followers section also gets added in the "friends" feature this way only the account owner will be able to see the followers nobody else, this also would prevent follow for follow and other kind of spams isn't it? Apart from the people who gathers followers on lichess by begging spamming etc, there are numerous people who even gains followers for the work they do on lichess, which also motivates the user to do well.

Very true. I normally follow someone if they have lots of interesting studies or win tournaments with exciting chess. Followers motivate people to perform better
I like the change, it's a nice deviation from the culture that overwhelms the social media in general.

Maybe allow the account owner to access his/her own followers.
Sometimes players follow or unfollow those who do the same.

1. Go to your profile
2. Under "Profile Completion", "Friends" option is available

By clicking the "Friends" option, the users that you follow are available

1) having a lot of followers is useless,
2) if you can see how many followers you have, it doesn't matter if other don't, some people will still beg for followers to see the number increase.
