Live Engine Analysis

#9 #10 A phenomenon seen across many sites is that viewers tend to parrot engine moves and evaluations, and such parroting overwhelms substantive discussion (both in the form of people asking why a program calculates as it does, and in the form of asking why a human commentator disagrees with a program).

Such is the case even on sites which do not offer server-side analysis (but some clients do client-side analysis)!
@Toadofsky I agree with your general view. However, there are times when you're done analyzing, when it's worth checking that your analysis is right. The engine can show you tactical motifs that may be useful in subsequent games/analysis.

@ chesstosterone Great. Let me know what you think.
IMHO as it is it's easily good enough for quickly checking some lines - well done, freefal. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much for this - I was very happy to come across it!

As feedback:
I would like to be able to toggle it on and off while I'm on a board. My goal would be to turn it off, manually advance the game (based on the engine's recommendation), and work on the new line from there - then turn it back on and see what the engine thinks to compare. Ideally, by just clicking the red button.

But again, thanks - your effort is very much appreciated!
Although - I just realized - I could flip it to the 'Notes' tab to accomplish that goal as well. A little roundabout, but perfectly serviceable.
Blockstar, thanks for the feedback. I stopped working on this much after the local eval was introduced. Glad to hear you are still finding it useful.
