Proposal for an additional feature for Classical Tournaments

Classical Tournaments with "real" classical time control (for example 60+30, we played in our Lichess team "Classical Weekend") run over several days (or weeks), especially in Swiss tournament format. It often happens that a player can not play every round, but misses (forgets) to pause his participation. So he is paired, and his opponent (in the above mentioned time control) has to wait 1 hour before winning the game. That could be very frustrating for the waiting player.

Here is a prosposal to solve this problem:
In Classical Tournaments (only in Classical tournaments, maybe only in Classical tournaments in Swiss format, so the Arena format would not be touched) after every round every(!) player will be paused by Lichess tournament management and has to activate/reenter befothe next round starts. If he does not, than the Lichess tournament management will not pair him for this round (as it is already now).

I hope the idea is good and it could be realized without much effort.

What do you think?
Also why not extend rapid time control up to 45 minutes
30-0 should not be considered a classical game...
Can a tournament manager pause all participants? If so, how? Also if players still re-enter and don't show up you can punish them with a yellow card and next time bann them from the tourney. Time control is perfect and day and time is OK too. We live in so many different time zones that we can't please them all! Thanks for organizing the tourney! Regards. Kurt
#1 I think further investigation is warranted. Perhaps this mainly occurs in (team) Swiss events and therefore a solution could be to give the tournament organizer power to pause players before the next round pairings are generated.
Personally I think this is a very elligant solution and I support it 100%
I think the easyist way would be to cancel the game after 5 or 10 minutes automaticaly. The player who didn`t move lost the game.

For sure you can make serios "captain-action" but that make more work, than an automaticaly system
Yes, if it's possible to programm that, could be a solution. If they would at least loose rating could also help.
Hello again

Indeed, I think that the participation of a player in a Swiss tournament should be paused either by the system automatically or by the director and this should be frozen (cant change) until ten minutes before the start of the round. Then the online players can unpause themselves and play. This should also happen in the registration phase, before the start of the first round

Further, in the case of consecutive rounds, if a player quits the tournament without withdrawing and gets paired he should lose rating points. As far as I know this is the case in the arena tournaments and I cant understand this inconsistency, why Swiss tournaments should have different rules for forfeiting games?

It might also be better if the number of half-point byes is not standard but can be defined by the director

Thanks for the surveys and the chance to give our opinions

Stay cool, bye
I was allready wondering that until now you did not loose rating-points when you dont start the game.

I thought that would be normal.
If I get paired with a player that does not have a steady green dot, it bugs me, so it's a bug.

Feature request 1: A player must have a STEADY GREEN DOT to be automatically paired.
Feature request 2: Create Enable / Disable auto pairings switch for teams; Create a manual pairing by standings number for Swiss team tournaments. That way the team leader can manually do Round Robin pairings.
