Missing Pieces

All of a sudden my queens and bishops are missing from the board, they are invisible. Opponent has no issues, sees all the pieces. I am using Safari browser. I have noticed Lichess getting increasingly buggy for me on Safari over the past year.

I tried logging out and back in, same issue.

Please send the link to game in question also screenshots of that position if available will be really helpful to see what exactly happened though.

Im sorry i didn't write down which games, it was from yesterday september 21, pretty much any games i attempted that day had this issue. However today the issue has fixed itself! so i can't replicate it.

All queens and bishops were invisible to me, opponent had no issues. It had something to do with the actual board viewer because the same issue showed up in the Captcha puzzle when i posted this topic, invisible queens. Again, issue seemed to resolve itself overnight.

Well, Safari can't really be considered a modern browser anymore tbh. Though in this case, it's probably not its fault. It can happen in other browsers as well. There's no need to send a screenshot or anything. This is a long-known problem but nobody knows why it happens or how to solve it.

If by chance it actually happens to you again, hard-reloading Lichess via I believe Cmd+Shift+R on Macs should fix it. Or changing your piece set will probably also solve it.

I have a similar issue, that one piece disappears (just one piece, not the others). For example, in this game:

The rook on a8 suddenly disappeared for me.
Then in the same game, at this position:

It showed me the next move as my queen taking on a2.

@cFlour I'd love to. But first, we'd have to know why this is even happening. tbh, it makes no sense whatsoever. Nobody has ever been able to find out why this happens and how it could be fixed and quite a few things have been tried. My guess is that it's some weird browser behavior or issue that is triggered by something that Lichess maybe does strangely. In some cases in Firefox, disabling certain caching features seemed to help suggesting that it was Firefox's fault in that case but it seems to happen in Chrome and apparently now Safari as well (though I guess those two share some amount of code). Might be multiple different reasons or there might actually be something very strange that Lichess is doing wrong.

Hello, just to pinpoint, hard-reloading on Safari is Cmd+option+R (shift is for reader view)

Im using firefox and I think it happens in tournaments after using the analyse-function.

the fastest fix - copy the url adress of the game - open new window - paste the url - enter - fixed!
probably its best to delete the "broken" window with the missing pieces.
