"Hide next moves" - Or how to play solitaire chess?

Hey,

I am trying to play solitaire chess with the lichess studys and naturally the "hide next moves" feature would perfectly do what I need. But when I activate it, the only thing that happens is that the moves after the move last played in the position on the board become grey.

I tried to activate/deactivate sync/book/everything you can turn on or off and different pgns.
What am I doing wrong?

And also: do you play solitaire chess? And if yes here on lichess? Whats your method?

Greets!

I wondered about that too. I think the "hide next moves" feature only makes sense if you want to hide the moves from *other* people. But you can set the chapter to "Interactive lesson" and then click on "preview" under the chess board.

I mostly just play puzzles.
Remember playing it with a book actually called Solitaire Chess (by I A Horowitz). :)

Set the visibility of the study to "Unlisted" (or "Public"), copy the link and open it in an incognito window or after logging out.

Set the chapter's "Analysis mode" to "Interactive lesson" and the study's "Visibility" to "Unlisted" (or "Public"). Copy the link and log out. Go to the study chapter (= the copied link) while logged out. Or use "PREVIEW", which appears below the chessboard as soon as you select "Interactive lesson".

I think this is best for solitaire chess.

Solitaire chess is a way of practicing and playing chess on your own when you're short of an opponent. It involves guessing the moves of one side, as if you were playing the game yourself. Solitaire chess was particularly popular in the famous American magazine Chess Review (the archives can be freely downloaded from the American Chess Federation website: new.uschess.org/chess-life-digital-archives ). An example of solitaire chess:

Yea, Gregory Kaidanov mentions it in his first perpetual interview.
There is also Bruce Pandolfinis Column in Chess for life, which was turned into a book too.

But I wanted to play it with lichess so I can use the voice recognition :)

Thats what I was missing! I really couldnt make anything out of this features but it makes sense that moves are just hidden from other users :D
