There are flags on your profile page. I think adding them everywhere your username is would only cause national/racial issues.
If you select your country, the flag is automatically displayed.
In my opinion flags are important; it's cool to know where your opponent is from. Yes, I know that moving your mouse arrow on the name etc. etc., but a lot of nicks haven't flag, (language only or nothing). National/racial issues are horrible, but I think we'd trust in lichess people...Gens una sumus!
