Last move color is difficult to see

Hi. I play 1 min games and sometimes I find myself trying to figure out what my opponents last move was. The highlighted last move color is too close to board colors. If you look closer, you can eventually figure it out but in 1 min games every second counts. It would be great if I could customize this color. Thanks

@Mattteo You can change the board theme. In some themes you can see the highlighted last move better than in others.

Yeah Luciano,but to change a board theme just click on your username in the top of the page and choose "board theme" to change a color of the board.

You can try userstyles themes with custom "last move color" or change it manually with css styles.

Thanks for your help. I have just tried out all board themes. The last move color is the same for all themes but it is slightly more visible if you pick one of the dark themes like the last one. However, it is still not visible enough for 1 min games.

Thanks for the help. I'm not sure about the userstyles idea. I know how it works. I have used it before. However, I was hoping the designers here would consider adding this feature for everybody.

Imagine the web designer reached out to me and said that's a great idea, let me add this just for you. That would be a little weird, wouldn't it? If we agree that this is a problem then it should be fixed for everybody. If we don't agree, then try it out yourself. Play a 1 min game and look at the board after you hear the sound and try to find the last move. It takes maybe 2 seconds.

I understand that the designer wanted to pick a softer color because it looks more elegant but in 1 min games what happens is, you just give up looking for the last move and make a move and hope for the best. There is no time to waste 1 or 2 seconds. I have lost and won many games on time with less than 1 second left.

Edit: Here is a game I won on time by 0.31s.

That other site uses Flash. I wonder, come 2020, what will happen to that site:

Customizing highlight colors (or somehow adding an outline) sounds fun. I wonder if there's a performant way to add such a feature without affecting page load & render times...

Hi, again. To demonstrate that even 1 second is important in 1-minute chess, I have checked all 23 games I played with the opponent in my previous screenshot. It turns out that wasn't the only game like that.

Hi. I just finished playing another opponent 14 games in a row and 2 games out of these finished with both players having 1 second or less time left on the clock. Notice the numbers 63 and 67 below the forward/reverse buttons. Those are move counts. That's a lot of moves in a 1-minute game.

I hope this demonstrates why I don't want to spend even 1 second extra trying to find the last move when I occasionally miss it. Therefore it would help a lot if I could customize the last move color.

Hi, everybody. I have managed to customize the color using a Chrome add-on called Stylebot. In case this helps other people, here is how you can do it:

1. Search for Stylebot and download the Google Chrome add-on.
2. On Lichess on the top menu click on Watch > Lichess TV
3. In Chrome on the top bar click on the Stylebot icon and select "Open Stylebot".
4. On the chessboard click on the blank square where the last piece has moved from. In the screenshot, that would be d5. On the top right, it should say "square.last-move". See the green arrow in the screenshot. If this doesn't work for some reason, close the sidebar and open it again.
5. Change the color as you wish. There is no save button. All changes you make here are saved.
6. On the top right click on the x to close the Stylebot side panel.
