Require that members has been registered for 30 days and have played 100 rated games before they can play in tournaments and challenge other members.

This is the only way to stop obvious cheaters like @alby20 from ruining tournaments.

What happened today was beyond ridiculous. It ruined every player performance in the tournament and some players had to face him several times when it was beyond obvious that he/she was a cheater and was allowed to play until the end!
100 rated games feels incredibly harsh. Not everyone has time to play that much chess.
Which player's performance is ruined? I don't see alby's games in the standings...
Lichess staff does a good job in dealing with cheaters. Sometimes they are gone within a minute.

You should have reported him quicker.
How do you expect people to make it to 100 games when they can't challenge other members?
@grapejam
It's not harsh at all. 10 games a day, takes you 10 days. How is this harsh?

@grapejam
"Not everyone has time to play that much chess."

But somehow have time to participate in tournaments? Hardly.
@Toadofsky

I don't understand what you mean. He ruined the streaks (double points|double points plus 1) of several of the top players.

It's what sociopaths do. They known they will be caught, and they also know they will have ruined the tournaments for those players!

Which means that players will be less inclined to participate in them.

Do we want a better environment for chess or not?

@EatingYourPrawns

Not with these types of cheaters that don't even care about being detected. Even a minute it's too late. Reporting them is not the problem. Reducing the likelihood of them appearing is what is more important.
