feature request: tournament search / filter

It would be helpful if a search form and/or filters were available to help locate tournaments of interest. Search parameters could include: date range, time control, variant, entry requirements, and opening theme.

In the current workflow, finding something like the next themed King's Gambit tournament with a rapid time control is pretty difficult. Or finding if/when a rapid tournament for 960 is scheduled during the first 2 weeks of next month. Search (or filters) would help players schedule for the tournaments they would like to attend.

I agree. Much better than having to scroll down the tournament calendar to find things like a marathon.

I second this improvement. Would be helpful for practice and planning

I don't know how the themed arena openings are chosen, and how far they're created in advance. So, that kind of search would most likely be pointless. Everything else follows a regular foreseeable pattern (btw there's no official 960 arena at all, slowest is 5+0) and lichess.org/tournament/calendar assists you for the most important tournaments beyond hourly and daily. For your teams' arenas, you can just check upcoming arenas from the teams' pages or lichess.org/tournament itself

It would be nice if the search also worked for user created tournaments so that they could finally be found somewhere.

I would also like to suggest maybe adding in where it might be if you are talking about otb
