A Finely Balanced Battle

Let's not categorize people by gender especially in women's day.
@MathematicChess dude what am I referencing? The article said they took away women's prizes because of cheaters. I would have made the same comment had they removed the general prizes, or any other prize. My comment had absolutely nothing to do with women. I don't view punishing a larger group because of some bad apples as a wise decision. It just so happened that the prize in question was the women's prize. Somehow people turned this thread into a gender thing.
It's International Women's Day and we just watched one of the best Bullet tournaments we've seen.. so naturally these comments are flooded with a bunch of DUDES talking about how Chess should or shouldn't be organized for WOMEN. Let the ladies decide what they want!!

Let's talk about that tournament, that ish was wild!!
We see nothing wrong
with encouraging women to play
Sadly, it didn't take long
for cheaters attempting to prey

Violations of TOS were widespread
which consumed a lot of our time
We'd rather spend time instead
on other forms of chess crime

The timing was very unlucky
but there are other things we can do
to make gender inequality less sucky
Sexists in this thread gets the shoe
@gobbledyZero -- I respect your opinion. As I promised, I will not labor my point here.

In your original comment, you said: "My point [...] is about unfairly punishing all members for the crimes of the few."

I take issue with many of your statements, namely:

1. that this was indeed a "punishment"
2. that this was "unfair"
3. that this affected "all" the members
4. that the crimes were perpetrated by "a few"

To me, Lichess' decision seems carefully analysed, justified and properly explained ("due to frequent abuse" -- Lichess' words, not mine!). They have the facts re. how many cheaters there were (%), how often the abuse happened, and we don't. So, I side with the facts and the people who based their decision on them for the benefit of the entire community.

But if someone disagrees, I invite them to suggest an alternative solution for this issue.

p.s. Btw, if a moderator thinks this conversation should be split / moved to a separate topic, please do so. I do not intend to hijack it in any way, I am merely discussing (a part of) the blog post: lichess.org/blog/XmQtyBEAACAAlYcf/a-finely-balanced-battle
Glad to see Magnus play again. He still has it in him to win this next time he plays.
I was very disappointed that @Chess-Network (Jerry) didn't comment this one. :(
I really enjoy his videos, especially when he follows Magnus in these Titled Arenas.
what a lovely poem arex! i thought i'd write one as well. it's about women playing chess.

it's known that women do play chess -
we do, but under such duress!
when all we want is just to play
our games, with you - in our own way.
the cheaters prospered; women lost
their chance to make a sweet riposte
to all the men who call us fools
(while watching all our streams - what ghouls!)
but here we are; and here we stay
our prizes all taken away
but here's the nub: we still play chess
and cheaters won't remove the rest
and we women still won't sleep with you
even if your rating is 2502
