@Shryder they canceled the women's prize. it's mentioned in the article
@Shryder It seems one of the women players let someone else play on their account in order to win a prize. I don't know which of them it was but one of them has a FIDE rating in the 1800s so it would seem reasonable to assume it was them. The odd part is why they didn't think anyone would notice.

@Shryder This debate has been had a number of times. Whether or not you agree with it, the purpose was obviously to encourage more women to play.
