Avoidable bug with puzzles in blind mode

If a puzzle in blind mode ends with a pawn promotion move, the puzzle ends and resets without letting you know you solved it. You dont' get any info, such as what the puzzle was rated, or how many points you were awarded, it just seems to reset to the beginning.
It does award you the puzzle rating points however if the promotion is the correct last move.
You can avoid this behavior if you specify the piece to promote to instead of simply advancing the pawn.
For instance, in the following puzzle, enter the last move as h8=Q instead of simply h8, and the puzzle will finish as normal.

Happy puzzling.
When I try that (inputting moves with the keyboard), it asks me to click on a promotion piece after h8 enter (even if I have automatically promote to a queen set to always). I think that's why you're not getting any info, because the puzzle didn't actually finish. So it seems you always have to specify the promotion piece if you don't want it to prompt you. By the way, you can leave out the = sign (just "h8Q").
Hi, hmm, did you switch to blind mode first? That is not the behavior I am getting.
Also, the puzzle is awarding the rating points, so it is recording it as a correct move, just bugging out and resetting everything else.
Lastly, in blind mode, we (the blind)don't have an option to pick the piece to promote to after advancing as far as I know, but what I don't know would fill an ocean.
Thanks for the equal sign tip, did not know that either.
Hi, late reply, but better late than never.

I turned on "Input moves with the keyboard" in "Game behavior" settings. Is that what you're talking about?

Hmm, I'm not sure then.

I guess you just have to pick the promotion piece when you type the move.

No problem.
Hi, there is a seperate blind mode for blind players. When using a screen reader, it is enabled at the second line from the top of the page, and is labeled "enable blind mode" It may not be a visible link, I dunno.
Either way, this seems to be a bug in blind mode, and I wanted to bring it to the developer's attention, as it seems it would be easy to squash, and is highly confusing for players when completing puzzles this way.
It took me many puzzles to figure out what was going on here.
For the developers: if this gets fixed, what is the best way to find out? Is there an overall change log that we have access to?
Take care.

Yes, it's not a visible link which is why I wasn't aware of it. What I thought you meant was actually something different. It turns out you actually do need to use the = sign in blind mode, even though you don't have to the way I was doing it (which wasn't blind mode).

I agree, this looks like a bug. I tested it myself, and when I type h8=Q, the puzzle completes normally, but when I just type h8, the page reloads and the puzzle is reset.

There's a changelog here: lichess.org/changelog

You might want to try reporting this bug on GitHub if it hasn't been reported already.
Thanks for your info and assistance.
I started a new topic on Github, but it is really difficult to tell if I put the right info in the right place with a screen reader on that web interface for forms the way they have their fields labeled and pre populated.
There are so many larger fish to fry for the blind here, I'm not sure this should really matter much.
For instance, if study mode could be made properly accessible, that would be super cool for myself and my chess coach, but that isn't a bug, just a matter of limited resources needing to be used to do the most good for the site as a whole.
Anyhow, good to know how to report a bug now and where to view the change log, thank you very much.
The issue you have created seem great to me :) The link to it is here : github.com/lichess-org/lila/issues/11706

This is exactly why I always try to encourage players to go to github. A well worded issue always help with understanding what a player thinks could be improved. As for studies, there is an issue about it already which I think is about your concerns. Feel free to comment on it, or follow it here : github.com/lichess-org/lila/issues/11089
