Chess.com there was a feature I liked: Whenever a user leaves the game while playing, the system would issue a warning to this person, and after 10 warnings or so the account would be restricted.
Simply going away and leaving the opponent sitting there and waiting is very unfair and bad practice, I think there should be some consequences.
Agreed! And for anonymous users, a 2-hour automatic ban (by IP) after leaving the game twice would suffice, I think. Of course, there should be a message box saying "You've been banned for 2 hours because of [...]", so that the user won't leave the site forever!
You could even have a HIDDEN score-based system, taking into account swear words in chat etc. to determine whether someone is unsportsmanlike on purpose. (eg. detect general trolling behavior)
PS1. Cookie-base temp bans are also OK, but easily circumvented.
PS2. No permanent IP bans though (or for more than a few hours); in many countries (including mine), "dynamic" IPs are the norm. We prefer it that way around here, to protect our anonymity ;)

Lichess is already excellent, it's just that eliminating such unsportsmanlike behavior would make the experience even more enjoyable o the rest of the users. So leave it for later, but please don't completely write it off. ;)
detection whether a position is lost is gonna be more troubling so no point to force ppl to move within a certain time limit. gelfand used half his clock thinking about a move.

DEFINITLEY ban "general trolling behavior," i've also been trolled like that. There is no satisfaction from the win.
Well no i would quit if that happened because my internet is no good and it goes on and off sometimes im wining and the force me to resign by the time i get back i lost i lose points the game and internet I would not like to be banned because of my internet thibault if you manage to read this i hope you understand my position and don't take the time and write the code so that people who leave get banned for two hours.
