A thread about tunes that remind you of a different performer

Rodriguez. (Not just a single song, but both of his albums)
First time I heard this particular song was back in December. While visiting China, my friend she played this song on the computer.
Immediately when I heard the voice, I cried out, hey it's Bob Dylan. She said no, it's Sixto Rodriguez.
Never heard him before, but he has since grown to be a personal favorite of mine. His voice and lyrics style does bare strong resemblance to Bob Dylan.

Not the only band around these days who sound a whole lotta, eh, a whole lot like Led Zeppelin (there is also Wolfmother and some others) but when I first heard this band (might not even have been this song, any one will probably do) on the radio I did wonder how I had never heard this one before (or if I actually had heard it before) www.youtube.com/watch?v=86_vnQc1oBE

Check this film out, it's great en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Searching_for_Sugar_Man
@The_Merry_Chesster I seen it about two weeks ago.
My guess this is where my Chinese friend first discovered him.
She also recommended the documentary to me.

The documentary is very good, but kind of gives the wrong impression.
Since Rodriguez had toured internationally before.
And his songs even made Australian and European chart list back in the 70's.

So in the USA his music was unknown at the time. And perhaps from a south African point of view, his music was know, but he himself and his life/death was filled with mystique and speculation. (This was before the internet)

But he had several hits in Europe and Australia, so he wasn't internationally unknown. Only in his home country.
Which I think the documentary failed to mention.

A couple times, I have thought they were Zeppelin when I wasn't familiar with the song.

I have to see them perform live. Period. Make up for being too young to attend Led Zeppelin in the 70s.
Also Neil Young's Helpless and Dylan's Knockin On Heaven's Door (but I'm past my legal limit). :)
