Should ½ chess have it's own catogory?

Failing a time control option just because your dexterity is incapable of even playing a casual game with it simply reveals your incompetence. Many games are played in 1/2+0 hourly and there's even a scheduled tournament for it with success, known as the Hourly Hyperbullet. That's a decent hint that you should not play it, not that everyone's obligated not to play it.

The main point of the discussion should be trying to distinguish what makes 1/2+0 different from 1+0 to warrant a new category, which is currently only limited to how the bullet community isn't fully adapting to hyperbullet yet and losing rating. As with how 5+3 players who aren't comfortable with 3+0 can just... Not pick that time control, the aggregate factors in 1/2+0 are only slightly worse than 1+0 or 0+1. If anything, I feel the difference between 1+0 and 1/2+0 is just as much as between 1+1 and 0+1.
This is all true but then someone could say that 30+0 isn't the same as 10+0.
If you don't want to play 1/2, then don't play it. Who matters about ratings? And more when its bullet, bullet is fun, 1+0, 2+0, 0+1, 1/2+0, whatever is bullet.

The tournaments already allow you to play in berserker mod which allows you to play 1/2; for me, 1/2 is a training for berserker mode.

I agree with #22 SchoolChessGuy, if we agree than 1/2+0 is not the same than 1+0, then we should agree than 3+0 isn't the same than 5+3, and still, its the same blitz category; or 5+5 isn't the same than 30 min.

People play whatever time control they want, if you don't want to play the time control they propose, then just don't play it.
#22: I would boldly say that the someone who stated that is wrong.
