Discrepancy in rating between chess sites, a cheating phenomenon?

I think the op rating comparison story/point is secondary to the style story of the op chess experience, and attitude toward game being lost as informative, and enjoyable. I think the op did not have to even point to ratings and cheating to make such reporting of cumulative impressions.

Let's play sometime.. Our ratings are similar . I apologize for mistaking you one of the millennials who learned from chess videos and trained and scored high on online puzzles.

Sounds great!
BTW.
Today I got my Chess.com rating past 1700 and interestingly I am better than 98% of all players on the site. On lichess at 2080 I am better than about 94%. I assume that the ratings are lower because of cheating at chess.com. At 2000 I would be close to 99% better than all players at chess.com!
@ryan121 lets play a long game. I like to set up by "real" board and play.
Tell me when you want to do it!
I Can reflect to this because on my Lichess account I have 1300 and in chess.com only 1000 and the worst part I actually lose to people with 1000 to less!
The reason that is happening because in chess.com you lose more than here and there is a lot of alt accounts who troll others(this is my opinion don't judge plz)

New players are constantly dealing with the pool of cheaters in their rating pools, which is ridiculous. Chess sites need to start everyone at 2500, and let the experienced players weed out the cheaters.

How would that make any difference at all?

Literally makes no difference whether you call the starting rating 1500 or 2500, it will be the same skill tier. if you always started everyone at 3,000 the new 3k is as strong as a 500 rate if you started everyone at 500, roughly.
