Lucky ?

Was having a bad day today (to many other things going on), and was blundering in several games :|

In this game below I thought I had gone too far, and I looked for checks, but found none ...
completely overlooking the Rd5# checkmate in 1 ! (embarrassing)

Luckily the "only move" I thought I had to play Re1 turned out to be fine.

I can't see your position is critical at all. Qd8 for example is playable as well as Qxd3 Nxd3 Rd8.

You are right, but on a bad day, and not being able to concentrate well, the black queen and black knight close to my king looked dangerous, which wasn't the case. The Ra1 still had the back-rank guarded, and most of white's pieces were more active.
I found it kind of funny that I overlooked the simple Rd5#, to come up with the rather surprising Re1.
