  1. BoldPodiene move 3 a surprise!
  2. BoldPodiene I have never played against this variation before. The big question is, after Nf6, what do I do with my Knight? Bd3 loses d pawn.
  3. BoldPodiene or does it?
  4. BoldPodiene if 5 Bg5 then ... Be7 and I end up exchanging twice or having to move my Bishop twice.
  5. LIYV Go BoldPodiene!
  6. BoldPodiene I missed that I can't capture e6 even after ... Qxg2 because of the Bishop on c8.
  7. LIYV I like 9.Qe2
  8. LIYV The e6 pawn is Black's Achilles, pile up pressure and play d5
  9. BoldPodiene He can win a pawn with 11 ... Nxd4. I may want to keep my Bishop with Qd2; if he opens up my g file with Nxf3, that can actually help me.
  10. BoldPodiene actually 11 ... Nxd4 12 Nxd4 Qxg5 13 Nxe6 Bxe6 14 Qxe6+ gets the pawn back. I hate losing the B
  11. BoldPodiene and it's moot lol
  12. BoldPodiene I'm tired at this stage (move 21) and worried I will start missing tactics.
  13. LIYV Maybe 22.c4
  14. LIYV Yup!!!!
  15. LIYV Congrats to White
  16. LIYV Beautiful mate
  17. BoldPodiene Thanks LIYV!
