  1. Showboater f6 looks so weird to me. surely that can't be right.
  2. Showboater was considering 8. Bf1 just because it looks cool.
  3. cosxdx Good luck lc91!
  4. lazerpo Yes eating your own rook is definitely cool :p
  5. pic1991 gl Showboater... but go LC!
  6. PRyr Interestingly enough, 7...f6 was once played by GM Malakhatko
  7. lazerpo Always play Bf1 cit.
  8. Yorb go lc :)
  9. pic1991 11...Nf5 and score the bishop pair?
  10. god666 I like h5, go!
  11. pic1991 15 spicy choice LC!
  12. god666 Indeed! I would have play Bf5 to target long term weakness of g3 (nf5) but black sac is far more exciting and it's sound.
  13. god666 For instance Qe1 h4! Is really annoying
  14. god666 It is critical to keep control of f5, otherwise a nxg5 followed by Bf5+ could be a killer. So do not rush! (Always play Kb8 : )
  15. PRyr Thanks for your enlightening comments !
  16. god666 Rde8 is also possible now, with idea of discovery nf5
  17. PRyr Isn't the black attack waning ?
  18. lazerpo Is Kg2 dumb here?
  19. lazerpo Ok it was played ahah
  20. PRyr I didn't get why Black didn't play gxh3. It seems White may have to give back material
  21. pic1991 seems to win a knight here, right?
  22. PRyr yeah ...
  23. lazerpo This is unpleasant though.
  24. lazerpo Yeah
  25. pic1991 I wanted to play gxh3 but I didn't see a concrete breakthrough? maybe the knight win felt more concrete
  26. PRyr Yes
  27. PRyr Now White has to fight for a draw
  28. pic1991 I think white will only be down a pawn here
  29. pic1991 and blacks knights are awkward at the moment
  30. PRyr and the white pawns seem out of reach for Black
  31. lazerpo Two knights and vat else
  32. pic1991 lol
  33. pic1991 still clearly blacks game, just some untangling to do here
  34. lazerpo Maybe Kh3 works
  35. pic1991 my instinct was Ng5
  36. pic1991 yeah
  37. pic1991 put the king on f3, N on h3 or e6
  38. lazerpo Kh3 black has no Ng6 and the Knight on f3 covers g1 was my reasoning
  39. lazerpo And you can gobble up the pawns
  40. pic1991 now black doesn't have Nd8 Ne6
  41. pic1991 so you can gobble the other way
  42. pic1991 I don't think trying to hold g3 was wise
  43. lazerpo Oh right so maybe kh3 was too slow
  44. PRyr maybe Showboater can even win this game
  45. pic1991 untangle th eknights LC!
  46. pic1991 you need to go win a queenside pawn while he spends time mopping up the kingside
  47. pic1991 should be a draw from here, but I'd rather have the knight with all the pawns on the same side
  48. PRyr b4 ?
  49. pic1991 if you don't play b4, I think c5 is automatic
  50. pic1991 axb6 instead of cx? no passed pawn?
  51. pic1991 need to be a little careful here as black
  52. pic1991 bxc, Nxc6, Bxc6, Kxc6 Ke5
  53. pic1991 gotta get in front of the d pawn first
  54. pic1991 nono in front of it
  55. pic1991 Ke6 wins now?
  56. pic1991 ok phew
  57. pic1991 ... I think 41 Ke6 won for white
  58. Black offers draw
  59. Draw offer accepted
  60. pic1991 gg both!
  61. Showboater yeah, nice game lc91
  62. Showboater that kingside attack was devastating
  63. Showboater yeah, so 26 Nd8 was crucial by the look of it
  64. Showboater gave you time to save the f pawn
  65. pic1991 watching along, I was thinking just keep the f pawn on f6 and manuevre the knight first
  66. lc91 yeah the king move was not great
  67. lc91 I guess the order really mattered there
