  1. sahkal yesterday i lost in league to a knight fork
  2. sahkal so today i had to retaliate by suffocating two knights
  3. primeideal well you had your revenge :p
  4. primeideal nice example of domination
  5. sahkal i think you had an equal game after the opening
  6. sahkal not sure if i played it ideally
  7. primeideal yeah I also think it went ok
  8. primeideal I haven't played against 4.Qc2 too often
  9. primeideal so I don't remember the theory, but the moves looked fine to me
  10. sahkal yeah you played it well
  11. sahkal but then i didn't like this f6-e5 idea
  12. sahkal too weakening
  13. primeideal yeah, I only realized Qa2+ was a move way too late
  14. primeideal because I think other than that I could always deal with Bb4
  15. sahkal yeah so f6-e5 makes you more susceptible to all kinds of tactics
  16. sahkal but let's see what stockfish thinks
  17. primeideal so maybe 19...Kh8?
  18. primeideal I thought I was so smart too playing ...Nd5 to provoque e3-e4 thinking after ...f6 ...e5 I'd get control of the d4 square :P
  19. sahkal at move 15 i thought my bishop could become the mvp if you allow it
  20. sahkal so maybe 16.h6 and then its uncomfortable
  21. sahkal yeah i thought that's your idea :D
  22. sahkal but feels kinda slow here
  23. primeideal yeah
  24. primeideal I also considered maybe going 16...Qb3
  25. sahkal oh yeah me too
  26. primeideal I think that wasn't too bad of an endgame
  27. primeideal if you traded
  28. sahkal Qb3 is definitely a move there
  29. primeideal also, after 12...bxc5 I was wondering if you could actually take the thing on c5
  30. primeideal I had Qd3+ and Rd8, but it isn't so clear cut I thought
  31. sahkal maybe but you have such a huge advantage in development
  32. sahkal SF even says you have an immediate tactical knockout
  33. sahkal but i didn't even wanna go there anyways
  34. primeideal yeah, certainly felt like I'd have enough compensation
  35. sahkal sometimes it's better to keep a weakness (c5 pawn) on the board than to take it
  36. primeideal but ok, on that vein, if I go 19...Kh8, do you have anything spectacular?
  37. sahkal pawns have this double nature of 1. being material and 2. being a hindrance to your pieces activity by closing off lines
  38. sahkal if Kh8 i probably play Be3 or bring the other rook
  39. sahkal li think at that point my bishop is already miles better than the knights
  40. primeideal yeah, white is definitely ahead
  41. sahkal that's why i played b4, to open the position for the bishop and also to weaken your d4 protection
  42. sahkal yeah but i didn't have any immediate knockout in mind for Kh8
  43. sahkal even after e5 bx Qx Qa2+ you have Rf7 that's not winning material just yet for me
  44. sahkal but still felt like that position is very good
  45. primeideal oof, completely missed that one
  46. primeideal but yeah my ..f6 was overoptimistic
  47. primeideal I didn't realize the bishop was such a powerhouse if you just retreat it
  48. sahkal yeah i think so. SF even says exd5 but why even go down a complicated line if Bd2 feels so good
  49. primeideal because if I calculated everything correctly 18.exd5 always looked nice for me
  50. primeideal or at least gave me some play
  51. primeideal like 18.exd5 fxg5 19.Nxg5 exd5 I like my pawns on d5 and c5
  52. sahkal after exd5 fxg5 i even missed Nxg5
  53. primeideal and if 18.exd5 fxg5 19.dxe6 I think I even had 19...g4
  54. sahkal oh and you missed a mate in 1 there
  55. primeideal oh
  56. primeideal hahahaha
  57. sahkal :D
  58. primeideal well now we understand why stockfish wants to take
  59. sahkal sure
  60. sahkal but i already had enough of losing games via overcomplication
  61. sahkal so just playing simple ches
  62. primeideal I think I'm in the opposite journey
  63. primeideal I'm trying to complicate everything because my calculation is so unbeliavably bad
  64. sahkal huh, interesting
  65. primeideal so I need to train it xP
  66. sahkal yeah not a bad idea probably
  67. sahkal well thanks for the game and good luck in the rest of the season!
  68. primeideal thank you! see you around
