  1. BrilliantBlunder putting bishop in front of q's pawn seems weird and to slow development but it was book and who am i to argue?
  2. jcarmody (6) IM Sielecki recommends 6..d5 but EVERYONE else says not to move the pawn twice in the opening.
  3. jcarmody (9) I think I like my pawn on d6, anyway. It keeps him from putting anything on e5.
  4. jcarmody (9) Now I think I like playing d5!
  5. jcarmody (9) Whaddayou think, Antaniserse?
  6. jcarmody (9) (I can't see your response until after the game.)
  7. Antaniserse well, at move 6 everyone says not to move a pawn twice but also not to move a piece twice,
  8. Antaniserse so since you need to use a tempo to defend the Knight anyway, the point of 6...d5 is to open up the Bishop diagonal and a stronger central p
  9. Antaniserse at move 9 is ceretainly a good option, given the loss of time by white to mo9ve the bishop for the 3rd time
  10. Antaniserse (10) so now Black is as much, if not better, developed as White, and the position is solid
  11. Antaniserse i'll take Black here
  12. MrScribbles :O
  13. MrScribbles first game of the round.
  14. MrScribbles Go jcarmody!
  15. jcarmody (11) Hello, Scribbles! Another Petroff...
  16. Antaniserse (11) I would have waited to push c4... this was not a bad IQP position for Black, just standard Nc6 looks fine
  17. jcarmody (12) I'm looking at Qa5, attacking that hanging knight, or b5...
  18. jcarmody (12) b5 weakens c5, though
  19. Antaniserse (12)) Qc7 also an option, taking away f4 to the Bishop development and supporting c4
  20. BrilliantBlunder 12. thought about bf4 but then we just end up trading dark square bishops.
  21. BrilliantBlunder i think i end up a pawn after this exchange.
  22. BrilliantBlunder he might take nf3 but queen is guarding d pawn.
  23. Antaniserse (13) Nc6 is risky... bxc and then d5 maybe?
  24. BrilliantBlunder oh. so if i take with bishop then he can take c pawn. better that than gxf and leave hole in king defense
  25. BrilliantBlunder plus his pawn will be isolated.
  26. Antaniserse (14) now on 14... dxc4 there's Bxc6 and Qe2, attacking both e7 and c4
  27. Antaniserse (14) on the other hand 14...dxc4 15.Bxc6 bxc6 16.Qe2 Qxd4 17. Qxe7 Qxc3 needs to be considered
  28. Antaniserse (15) Idea, i guess, is to play Rd2 against Nxd5, but what if Black goes Qa5 and Rf(a)d8?
  29. electricfalcon I'm rooting for jcarmody this week :)
  30. Antaniserse (21) Rxe2 first, so the bishop+rook battery on b7 is broken
  31. Antaniserse (21) or even better Rec8 m,aybe?
  32. jcarmody (21) Two bishops; what else?
  33. jcarmody (22) Who's our anonymous spectator?
  34. Antaniserse (23) This looks over: Nxc3, Bishop and rook under attack, back-rank mate issues, what to do for White?
