  1. Ivory12 (7.Bb3) let's go Merlyn!
  2. MattHasFun Go merlin!
  3. CrazyMerlyn (9.e5) this isn't line he usually plays. but it's recommended by the computer. i guess he prepped
  4. fake_switch (9.e5) goooooo merlyn!!
  5. prostidude Go go Crazy!
  6. CrazyMerlyn (9.e5) it's a very tricky position though. even with some prep could go either way
  7. prostidude Woooow
  8. CrazyMerlyn (10.Bxe6) all right. let's go
  9. prostidude What's the deal here?
  10. fake_switch (10.Bxe6) oh dear
  11. prostidude What is this crazy tactic?
  12. Ivory12 (10.Bxe6) piece for two pawns and king exposure
  13. sidetracked_owl Goooo Merlyn! Cinch it!
  14. fake_switch (10.Bxe6) merlyn trying to win the round in style
  15. sidetracked_owl I mean, he's not just Merlyn you guys, this is CRAZY Merlyn we're talking about
  16. Ivory12 (10.Bxe6) actually its piece fro three pawns maybe? Nxf8 exd6 after or something
  17. sidetracked_owl Got the opponent shaking in his rooties though
  18. Astronominoff (10.Bxe6) Wow.
  19. fake_switch (10.Bxe6) this game is 10 moves in, and already has my nomination
  20. fake_switch (10.Bxe6) for the season in review thing
  21. Ivory12 (10.Bxe6) as Merlyn said yesterday, don't you have to accept this?
  22. Ivory12 (10.Bxe6) Maybe there is Bxg2 or something?
  23. MattHasFun but then Bxf7+ with the queen coming out for chaos
  24. MattHasFun not doing any calc just thinking about ways to counter attack
  25. Ivory12 (10...Bxg2) :O
  26. Ivory12 (10...Bxg2) However this goes it will be exciting.
  27. Astronominoff (10...Bxg2) Well now Bxf7+ Kxf7 e6+
  28. prostidude Doesn't that hang your rook Astro?
  29. Astronominoff Maybe it's worth it. :)
  30. plastic_pusher it's check. But can just play Bxn+
  31. prostidude I like your thinking
  32. frostypanda37 Bxf7 Kxf7 Qg4 should be lights out
  33. frostypanda37 Unless Black has a crazy defensive resource
  34. SycoraxCirce what about Qe7
  35. MattHasFun Qg4 could lead to a tasty mate
  36. MattHasFun obviously mistakes would need to happen
  37. frostypanda37 I think Astronominoff's e6 idea is good but first Qg4 to cover the h4 check Black has
  38. MattHasFun YES
  39. FiveBucks !
  40. MattHasFun I think you have to take the bishop and then block with the queen for a queen trade?
  41. MattHasFun or you take the bishop, then the white queen takes your bishop
  42. CrazyMerlyn (11.Qg4) can't see anything better. now fxe6 and Nc5 seem reasonable. moving the bishop should lose
  43. plastic_pusher fxe6 nxe6
  44. prostidude The games this week have all been mind blowing, but this one went from zero to 'Get my popcorn' even faster than the previous ones
  45. rojazu doing some reconnaissance. one of these fine two players will be my opponent next week!
  46. MattHasFun Bishop takes rook is just mate right?
  47. plastic_pusher yes
  48. invinci7777 (11.Qg4) time to change availability lol
  49. rojazu 10. Bxe6... this is pretty wild
  50. MattHasFun Bxf7 then anything Qe6 is mate
  51. plastic_pusher fxe6 nxe6 qxg2 threatens rook in corner
  52. rojazu Merlyn is a proper wizard
  53. CrazyMerlyn (11.Qg4) on second thought, Nc5 allows Bf7 and e6. Probably best to take on e6 now and white is only somewhat better after Qxg2 and Nxe6
  54. MattHasFun GG
  55. SycoraxCirce ??
  56. CrazyMerlyn (11...Bxh1) what? am i missing something
  57. FiveBucks Qe7 was forced i guess but game was over anyway
  58. fake_switch (12.Bxf7+) no way!
  59. invinci7777 (12.Bxf7+) gg
  60. CrazyMerlyn (12.Bxf7+) isn't next move mate now?
  61. rojazu Game of the week locked in
  62. MattHasFun Yes could premove
  63. prostidude Let's go!
  64. plastic_pusher what's black been smoking?
  65. fake_switch ggs!!
  66. MattHasFun GG!
  67. Ivory12 ggwp
  68. plastic_pusher gobsmakin
  69. plastic_pusher the analysis after Bxe6...
  70. root2 what about it?
  71. CrazyMerlyn Bxe6 is not sound according to stockfish, but very interesting nonetheless. hard to refute over the board
  72. root2 i had it in my prep but forgot the move and the position is so dangerous that it proved fatal
  73. root2 Bxg2 works in another line but clearly not this one!
  74. CrazyMerlyn yeah, very sharp position. I saw the computer recommendation against Be6 and I didn't like black in the positions as it was too sharp
  75. root2 yeah probably wise. looking at my lichess study now and i actually had 10...dxe5 down but didn't remember/trust it enough
  76. root2 nice prep!
