  1. riemannn Berlin in the amateur level? now I've seen everything.
  2. doberm4n haha is that rare at this level?
  3. Cynosure The Berlin occurs at the amateur level quite often.
  4. Cynosure 000 5?
  5. doberm4n gorgeous game, Cynosure. CPL=sick puppy
  6. Cynosure No way
  7. gucelli i'm stunned.
  8. gucelli gg thnx
  9. Cynosure So am I
  10. Cynosure I've never had such a good game before.
  11. Cynosure It's literally unreal.
  12. Cynosure I was surprised by 9...h6
  13. Cynosure Most people usually seem to play 9...h5 there, I think?
  14. Cynosure Because it prevents the eventual g4 to oust your knight and try to block in your bishops.
  15. Cynosure That's what my last opponent told me anyway
  16. doberm4n h6 is the most popular move there, yes. Better is Ke8
  17. Cynosure This is the last Berlin Defence I defended, also in 4545: lichess.org/fBHpRL7L/white#0
  18. Cynosure nowhere near as good as this one.
  19. Cynosure I did a bit more reading on it since, but I can't believe the result.
  20. doberm4n as soon as @gucelli gave up control of d6..
  21. Cynosure I was a little confused by 20...c5 too, because I felt as if that really blocked in black's bishop.
  22. gucelli i was quite in zugzwang, and lost control. i knew from the start that i could play c6...
  23. Cynosure I was also a bit confused by giving up your white bishop, I know it cramps you massively,
  24. gucelli i played c5 because i was fearing of Ba3 controlling the diagonal, my N, the f8 square...
  25. Cynosure but I thought the biggest strength of the Berlin defence was the bishop pair?
  26. Cynosure I did consider Ba3, in fairness.
  27. Cynosure Thanks for the game!
  28. Cynosure Just kinda melting a bit, looking for other games which are 000 that I've played! Found a few, in fairness.
  29. gucelli thank u
  30. Cynosure Good luck for the rest of it.
