Is there any theory on the Damiano Defence?

Or is it so bad that nobody cares to analyse it at all?

Who know mabye me with lichess stockfish can find a novelity to save the defence?? hahaha
Hello,

it is so bad that even stockfish can't find a good move to save it^^.
It has been analysed by Tartakover in his "bréviaire des échecs", a study book (in french) written for beginners.(As a beginner, i just read it).
You can find a study here on lichess : fr.lichess.org/study/OGnF8qqL.

Have a nice day.
Ah, that's Damiano defence... Stockfish et al. will have no problems to win it against any human so it is "saved". ;-)

Sure it belongs to the type of clearly inferior openings.
After 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f6?? 3. Nxe5 Qe7 4.Nf3 Qxe4+ 5. Be2 Black is even in material but is behind in developement. After 3.... Qe7, Black actually sets a trap with 4. Qh5+?? g6 5. Nxg6 Qxe4+ 6. Be2 Qxg6, winning a knight for 2 pawns.
LOL. Nxe5 wins for white. Damiano is terrible. Though a guy drew Bobby Fischer with it in a simul. Black loses by force after fxe5 and if black doesnt take it then it is better for white.
