By a miracle. The mate by Rh8 was lingering in the air for several moves, and that was your main chance. All you had to do was cover the black king escape square on g6. But you seemed to ignore it, for example by g5 instead of f5. It worked out nicely for you still, but once you spy a possible checkmate position, you should focus on closing the loopholes. Good game.
