Why do you say Magnus is a genius, when it is much more likely that he's only ,really, really good at chess?

Such question has very little sense without an exact definition of "genius". And I doubt such (meaningful) definition exists.

genius is relative
Genius just a talent...to become a gm,Im or FM you must work smart to achieve it...I don't recognize Albert Einstein as a GM

A chess player must remain motivated in their training and practice on what they have trained on. The brain is built to forget what we do not use.
A rating of 2700 is probably easy to maintain for a genius and much harder for a player that is not a genius. To help maintain a rating on lichess I set the custom quick pairing setting to 0-250. My lobby setting is manually set just above my peak ratings (OTB 1723 - Lichess 2007) ... 1750-2050. It's probably good to play against higher rated players, but probably not if it creates an under inflate rating. So I'm not sure setting the rating selector this way is a good approach or not.
