kings indian attack

does any one know if the kings indian attack is a good way for white to play agains the french defence . i play my worst games against the french defence e4 e6 .
It's a decent response to it, another opening you could try is Tarrasch variation.
Bobby Fischer liked to play the Kia when facing the French defense
It is a very good way, and the reason is due to the Black d5, e6, f7 pawn structure.

Fischer said that the KIA is good vs this type of pawn structure BUT you have to get the White e-pawn onto e5 driving off the Nf6.

Look at some of his more early games using this opening.

In my opininion it makes most sense when Black played a French or Sicilian ...e6 because he would lose a tempo for the desired ...e5.

KIA ist not KIA, look at the Qe2 stuff.
Here is a more recent example.

Also Kasparov has played it.
Fischer played it 6 times, but he played 2 d4 and 3 Nc3 37 times and 3 Nd2 once. So Fischer must have thought it to be good, but the regular 2 d4 d5 3 Nc3 as better, as he used that exclusively in important games against strong opponents.
You can also play it against the Caro-Kann: 1 e4 c6 2 d3, as Tal played several times in the World Championship.
It makes most sense to play like that if you also play the King's Indian Defence with black.
