Scandinavian defense declined

The Blackmar-Diemer (1.e4 d5 2.d4 in this move order) is half-playable at low level (although this is not how you will make progress and increase your playing level), and I'm surprised not to see the Bloodgood gambit (also called Norfolk gambit) : 1.e4 d5 2.b3 (in this move order ; Bloodgood was playing 1.b3 d5 2.e4 or 1.Nf3 followed by b3 and e4), which is surprisingly not so bad as it looks (same comment as on the Blackmar-Diemer though).
The rest barely equalizes for White or is "utter crap" (a quote from Miles :) ). When White manages to equalize with a lot of difficulty in some opening, said opening is commonly refered to as "refuted".
The element of surprise may come in the Scandinavian on move 3, 4, 5 or even 6, but on move 2, White has very little choice. It is not such a bad choice for Black that you can treat it with total contempt. As argued earlier, it has passed the test of time and the test of Kasparov.
