I never saw a metal detector at Sinquefield.

they spend 20 minutes to examine each one of the players with metal detectors sth we were watching live on R4 stream but this guy here never saw a metal detector lol whatever

Wasn't this just after Magnus withdrew from the tourney? Anyhow, I think that Magnus should speak up - why did he do as he did?
I think FIDE should ban Carlsen from playing any rated tournament for 24 months. You can't go accusing of cheating each player you lose against. It is bad sportsmanship.
@kenzaburo

You can't prove what Carlsen's intentions were, in the exact same way that cheaters, like Hans, spend years taunting and jeering the chess world that "we can't prove that they're cheating".
@Onyx_Chess what other intentions can he have by placing naughty tweets and withdrawing the tournament? Imagine if for instance Topalov or Anand did the same to Magnus when he was 19, would have he gotten to where he is now? What right he has to ruin the chess career of a young GM?

they follow this procedure in every round.After magnus withdrew they just extended the examination time,at least 5-10 minutes for each player,sth we were witnessing in R4 stream

bro ur absolutely right but the whole thing is so smelly cause its not sth between these 2 guys only. For example why chesscom erased hans completely from the site,what the mourinho gif is all about? What if i told you that Magnus maybe thinks they hacked his prep against hans from his computer in the hotel room and this is nothing to do with chessboard cheating

I don't know.

I have a question for you: "Is Hans still a cheater? Prove it."

Now, as I said, Hans is coming face to face with his poor decision making.

And, as far as I can tell, this is the first time that the chess world has designated a cheating GM to represent all cheaters and all cheating...and it's being made crystal clear that cheating IS a big deal, that it DOES have consequences, and that it is NOT respected or tolerated.

And I fully support that message.

I especially support this message because this isn't a lifetime ban where chess talent like Mr. Niemann's is discarded and wasted. Not at all. He will continue to eat because of the gift that he has. And, eventually, all will be forgiven and forgotten.

But, right now, the chess world is doing all that it can to kick back against cheating, and I support that initiative 110%.
@Onyx_Chess let's suppose Niemann cheated in this particular game (which we have no evidence of), then what prevents us of supposing that Carlsen also cheated in a certain game in the past (which we neither have evidence of). Is it right for the world chess champion to launch this type of baseless accusations? Just like Niemann has admitted cheating on-line, Carlsen is known to be a bad loser and has a record for it, so I am more keen to see this as bad sportsmanship by Carlsen than cheating by Niemann. Maybe I am wrong, just my 2 cents.
@kenzaburo

Carlsen's precedent is immaculate. He's given us no reason to think that he's cheating.

Hans can't say the same thing. He was caught when he was 12; he didn't learn his lesson and continued cheating; and he was then caught again a few years ago when he was 16.

Also, I really can't stress this enough, the suspicion that you're discussing in terms of "how do we know that others aren't also cheating" is ONLY possible because of chess players who are willing to cheat. Chess players like Hans.

As for whether Hans is actually cheating at the Sinquefield this year? I don't know. I don't have the expertise to comment.
Personally, I don't think that he is, but I don't think that's the real issue, here.

I think that there is a much larger narrative that's being addressed, and I hope that it all turns out in a best variation for the chess world.

I am always very suspicious when someone says that they have 'secret knowledge'. In cases where I knew those involved well the person was always making stuff up to smear a reputation.

I just played in a blitz tournament where a low rated HS kid beat me, an expert, and then beat a master with both colors. Turns out, during covid when he had zoom classes he was ignoring school and playing bullet & blitz 12 hours/day. It seems plausible to me that a guy who wears sweats to a fancy tournaments was studying chess with no social life 10 hours/day as he claimed and made a huge jump in skill. Until I see some non-secret knowledge that explanation looks most plausible to me.
