What is the ending that is hardest to you?

Interesting use of knowledge, testing the opponent rather than yourself, might even end up learning it by playing people who can do it on the spot. or see them waste time.... I also have things I like to see the opponent work out for me.... too many.

With the rook, you can quickly shave files and columns with the aid of the king. You do use opposition as well, but you do limit the king to 1/4 of the board or less. and in around 6-9 moves, the opposite king just has 1 column or file, depending on orientation, to move

If you go only for opposition it means that the opposite king will move to one edge of the board (say the a column), then you have to follow it with your king until you reach opposition on the b file, check him, he will run now to the h column, you have to chase it until the g column, when he lands on opposition, you check, rinse and repeat.

Just check the 2 studies that are posted on page 1, the first is the efficient way, towards the end of it. The other one shows the slow approach. But both work, though the slower approach works better in time trouble as you dont risk losing the rook and you can premove.

The above game is what I mean by the opposition checkmate, starting from move 10.

This game shows the king being cornered.

Two knights and one pawn checkmate, rook and pawn endgame.
