Running a rapid Swiss

The time control is weird though. Why not one of the regular ones?
10+6 is not regular enough? How so?
I wanted an increment to avoid flaggers, and not too long to reduce trouble finding time, but not too short either, and 10+6 is just twice 5+3 (a very common time control), or two fifths of 25+15 (fairly common as well), the base time is exactly 100 increments.
Games seldom take over 30 minutes, so two can easily be played within an hour.
It should not be too different from 10+5, but with slightly more increment to reduce scrambles.
Anyway, the list now is:
1. the_loving_boy
2. Samurai_Sri_Lanka
3. MajorTom20
We need at least 2 more entries to have enough for a six-player Swiss.
I have come up with a reasonable way to score the tournament:
score = total_wins + total_draws/2 (because every game should count)
first_tiebreak = matches_won + matches_drawn/2 (because the matches should count for something)
second_tiebreak = total score of opponents played
If a player drops out (I really hope this doesn't happen), all games against that player are to be dropped, and all the scores of that player's opponents should be multiplied by (1+1/number_of_rounds) to compensate.
There are currently only enough players for a 2 round Swiss, I will wait for more to join before starting.
After careful deliberation, I have come to the conclusion that the Swiss system is designed to ensure fair chances when each competition between two players is considered a single game.
For this reason it is likely better to use match_wins(matches with a score of at least 2) + match_draws(score exactly 1.5)/2 as the main score, and total game score as the tiebreak (that third game after 2 wins or losses does matter, as there are always ties in a Swiss).
Further tiebreaks can be sum of opponent's main scores, followed by sum of opponent's total scores if needed.
Yeah, the link to Lichess 45+45 League is mandatory in such threads) It is a good example of how to organize a long-lasting tournament with tournament pairings hosted outside the playing zone.

But the sad thing is that this hundredth topic on Swiss tournaments doesn't make the developers to consider adding this functionality to the site. After all, Arena is obviously a brand-new superior format for online Rapid tournaments, unlike the rusty and outdated Swiss for OTB games. Arena advantages: 0) It was more popular on lichess than Swiss 4 years ago. 1) You can have the whole 10 hours of continuous fun there. 2) The playing strategy in Rapid Arena is even more complicated than in chess. You should cooperate with people for mutual berserks for higher result, offer quick 10-move draws to equal opponents if not on fire, and of course skillfully pause yourself to avoid encounters with big fish that can spoil your streak. You should also quickly resign if you're sure your opponent is a cheater. But don't report him - let him slow down your non-cheater rivals as well. 3) Thus Arena is more sportive and competitive as players play much more games and should also manage non-chess factors wisely, that is definitely a skill too.
But everyone don't have time to play continues 10 hours. It's good if we can play monthly round robin tournament or swiss which don't need to play continues 10 hours to win
@FootballGirl All the statements from "After all, Arena is obviously a brand-new superior format" and below are sarcasm :D That's really the way I see Arena and, despite it is no doubt fun and popular, I think Swiss is obligatory if Lichess wants to become the best and only sane chess playground.
The original poster does what you all want lichess to do: organise a tournament. Now are you all in or out? If you do not want to play in a Swiss when one is organised, then stop asking for Swiss tournaments.
