Why did I not win

u think u play well, may be u are. But u opponent playing like u too. U both are on the similar lvl of gaming(or may be mine too). That's why draw. Yeah u can win, but only on pawn. I v got a lot games like that.
cannot because both player are on the similar lvls of gaming. That's why draw. And i think white was bad in ending, they v got 6 pawns vs 4, and 5 vs 3 pawns situation and lose it. Even me can win in that situation...
Just like @Pandas_of_the_Night says, if your opponent's clock runs out but you have no way of checkmating them anymore, the game ends in a draw. If you had a single pawn, rook, queen, or some combination of pieces left that can checkmate, then it would have been a win.
If you have only the king left, you cannot ever checkmate so it's a draw, even if their time drops. If you had a pawn, this pawn could promote to a queen and checkmate would be possible, so you would win.

Please note there are some peculiarities in this rule. For example, if you have only king and knight vs a lone king, it's draw. But, if their clock runs out and they have a pawn, because of this pawn they will lose instead of draw. Because if it's a rook pawn, he can trap his own king with that pawn, and if it's not a rook pawn, he could be promoted to a bishop and help trapping his own king in a checkmate. It looks unfair but it's practical.
