Classical Chess Olympiad forum

Welcome to the Classical Chess Olympiad forum!
I wanted to discuss the timing of the Chess Olympiad, considering that most chess clubs have their over-the-board (OTB) training sessions on Fridays. Given this, I was wondering if we could explore the possibility of choosing a different day for the Schacholympiade to ensure maximum participation from our club members.

If you have any flexibility in scheduling the event on a day other than Friday, it might make it more convenient for our club members to participate without conflicting with their regular OTB training.

I appreciate your consideration of this suggestion and look forward to your thoughts on the matter.
@chessfefe Thank you very much for your feedback!
We have thought a lot about what would be the best day for it.
On Sundays and Thursdays is the big Blitz liga and on Mondays the Rapid League. Both have thousands of participants, even many classical chess players.
There is always a good chance to play against a titled player.
On Tuesdays is the CICL.
On Wednesdays are many OTB club evenings and once a month the RTCL, a Rapid version of the CTCL.
It would also be 2 long arena classical championships in just 2 days.
On Saturday are many classical tourneys including the CTCL once per month.
Considering all this we came to the conclusion that Friday is the best day for it.
This way the 3 big classical arena championship we are organizing are never 3 in the same week and never on 2 days in a row.
Friday is also a good day for us in Asia/AUS as the games will start a bit late in the evening for our time zone! Hopefully we can get a lot of people from around the world participating in this event!
What time (UTC) would the rounds be on Fridays? sorry if this has already been answered somewhere or is this always 13:00
@amanlikekennyken I only mentioned that it has the same format and rules as the CTCL and CICL.
It will have a duration of 12 hours.
So you can play your game anytime from 13 UTC til 01 UTC.
This way almost people anywhere on the planet will be able to play.
The most difficulty is for those living in some parts of Asia and Australy though.
Would you please explain what is the deadline for forming teams, when is it not too late to sign up for a particular team?
@fafic There is no deadline.
We are asking the participants though to tell us the country they want to represent when they join.
There will certainly be several countries which have not at least 4 players.
So we will need to form some combined teams.
We will create the country teams about a week or so before round 1.
There will always be at least 1 team open for late joiners.
We will select the 5 highest rated players for team 1 in countries that have more than 5 players.
The others will play in team 2 of that country.
