Losing games due to...

When reading to a lot of post, it seems that many players only loose their games because of cheaters. However I loose my games because I am playing bad, not because my opponent cheats. Somehow I never have to play against a cheater.

What am I doing wrong?!
There seem to be cheater now and then, ok. The lichess team is mastering the issue more or less, so far so good. I had no close encounters with any cheaters (only 5+0 so far) but I find annoying the following which happens constantly:

-cheater paranoia in forum & chat, even I got some nasty comments from a user when I started to play here
-hobby cheater hunters whose ultimate goal is to convict as many of them as possible
-cheaters trying to explain that they have not cheated
-players who make "extra-chessical" things responsible for their poor performance: cheaters, internet connection, time villains (which is somewhat "chessical" though)

Thanks! (actually I had to look up first what "spot on" means - just to be safe! :D)

Yeah, I've been many years in the chess "business" and it's everywhere the same. All taken from the "Book of the 1000 excuses in chess"...
I also never had a close encounter with a cheater. Only once was called a cheater and didn't have a clue why.
What irritates me sometimes is when an opponent makes a mistake, then goes away without resigning. Sometimes it is a new player, so maybe he doesn't know this option. But nevertheless it happens often and then I wonder why they do that, because it isn't very sportive to let people wait then.

Will you believe it, today I won an interesting game and my opponent kindly told me "good game!" afterwards. Guess there is hope for humanity.

@rolvinschjki: yes, that also happen to me, very annoying.

@mailbox: LOL!
Been called a cheater many times and I'm not a fan of the habit that some people have of calling everyone a cheater. I personally am not bright enough to be able to tell if someone is cheating or simply playing well and I wonder how others are really able to tell. I've been refunded rating points after losing to a cheater a few times but it has always just been a surprise. I imagine that the problem of engine users is rather insignificant as my opponents have almost always made mistakes and inaccuracies when I've analysed complex games.
