Delay in addition to increment

USCF, and some other federations, often use delay instead of increment in many tournaments. I think it would be great if we could choose to set up a game with delay instead of increment here on Lichess, as well. It would be nice to practice this time format online because as of right now - there is nowhere to do so.

Thoughts?
Hi ! I think it is a pretty good idea, it could for exemple also be added in the lobby, but this subject goes in Lichess Feedback section.
Of course, if a mod sees fit to move this, I'm fine with that. And thanks for your reply.
Usually I'd discuss feature requests under "Lichess Feedback" although here I strongly favor either:
* delay
* byoyomi (Japanese for "countdown" - like delay, but only once main time has expired)
I have wondered about this in the past but now I realize increment is just easier. Every move you make you get x more time. It can't be simpler so I am on team increment. But no chess site that I know of has delay.
Delay adds complexity and doesn't solve the problem of players throwing games by moving quickly to stay ahead on the clock.

Byo-yomi mitigates that problem as much as possible for non-correspondence games by only awarding "delay" after main time has expired.

Believe me: I far prefer large increment classical chess for serious, rated games. These aren't always available to many USCF OTB players, and hardly at all prior to a rating of like 2k+. Even many of the 60+ min games feature only a 5 second delay. It's tough to manage and, like everything else, requires practice. Being able to only practice this OTB makes life difficult.

I favor the radical proposition that serious OTB tournament games should use byo-yomi as well, if for no other reason than b30 or b60 run faster than +30 and +60 time controls.
i think delay would be nice, although generally it's sufficient to emulate a delay time control by using a slightly lower increment instead. i've also wanted a 1⁄2 increment though, and there's not really any way to emulate that on lichess atm
Boo Hoo ... 5 second delay ... When I was young we played with no delay & no increment ... The time allotted was in most cases a bit' more to make it to the next time control but when time was up you lost
