A child prodigy??

I am a fourteen year old boy who is 1100 at chess. If I spend every second of my Free Time playing chess studying tactics and improving, is it possible to ever become a GM or IM?
You should get a good coach.
And what's the deal of being a prodigy? Be yourself. Everyone is unique.
Who can say? Certainly not any of us. It's all up to you. ;)

You're well-advised though to forget about being a "child prodigy" (unless maybe you just learned the moves last week).
@Jamesdabeast come on ..... again a "can I become a GM" question, I wont repeat myself by saying that GM's don't comment here so asking is useless .. oops I just repeated myself, just like this question that pops up every 12 1/2 hours in the forum, and everytime by a wannabee GM who doesn't want to put in the effort to read even the other forum posts.....

Other than that, how is anyone going to know how much free time you have to spent on tactics and "improving"

Questions like these make me wonder sometimes, if there are people left who just enjoy a good game of chess now and then. (Rhetorical question, I know the answer, otherwise I would just make a forum post about it)
I was 1800 at 14, and I left lichess before turning 15. I returned and now at the age of 16, I find myself being entangled at 1700. During the good old lockdown days, there were much more opportunities to learn and improve at chess. Just sharing my feelings.

Anyways, @Jamesdabeast I think you should focus more on your academics and school, since you have reached a crucial stage of your life. Chess is secondary. You'll have to put in considerable time to improve. Right now there is gonna be no more lockdown etc.

Edit: Just read your bio, well, you should like Sicilian, not hate it. It's wonderful, trust me! :)
I'll try to answer the question honestly as I feel it's disrespectful to tell you that you should not even ask the question.

If you spend several hours a day for the next 10 years of your life you will be able to improve quite a lot depending on various factors.

For one, how efficient is your training. If you focus on endgames and play a lot but never solve tactics you will probably not improve as fast.

The reason it's so hard to say how far you can go is that everyone has a different potential based on natural talent, but it can be hard to judge if you have that talent or not. I'd say try hard for several years and see how good your results are and then reevaluate from there if you want to continue.

Really, though, the main reason to play chess is that you love the game. It's a great game. So Don't worry so much if you can't become a GM. You can still achieve a lot and have a very fulfilling time playing chess.

YOU CAN. Jacob Aagaard started chess relatively late compared to today's prodigies and became a GM in his 30s. he himself showed examples of GMs who obtained the title by starting chess late. If it's your passion and you're sure you'll be in chess for a long time, go for it! what is a prodigy? Do all 5 year olds who play chess become GMs? No. only the hard-working and motivated succeed.

But at least you can easily have my level, here are some tips:

make an opening repertory. look at the openings that you like and work several lines in each opening.

work and analyze your games, use tactics while avoiding going too quickly on the puzzles. keep up the speed to work on your reflexes while playing puzzle race and storm. the speed of thinking will save you from endless lines where you will get lost and this will allow you to have a sharper vision of the position. Find your playing style and improve your skills. Finally, never be afraid to play a lot and therefore play in tournaments.
