Exact Ratings for Everyone on Lichess

> If you add it in Chess960 you have to add it in all variants I assume. I think you could easy add it but is the chess960 list so important that we need a split into time controls? I think it is not the first time you worry about it. Why not using the Lichess code and add this? You are absolutely allowed to do it. The problem of different time controls= different ratings. You would need so many rating groups and rating for different time controls. In some variants it could be a problem to find enough player for the variants lists.

I'm not a coder myself and I was addressing the author of the article, in the first place. I have explained why I think chess960 is more important than 'all variants'. You can also ask Carlsen, Aronian, Kamsky, Nakamura, Karyakin, etc about the difference between chess960 and the 'variants'. What's the motivation for you to comment like this? Is it simply that you dislike chess960? I see you haven't played a single chess960 game.

I only play chess960 on my @Cypex2 account. In my opinion it is not really a chess "variant" (because it has the same rules) but only a different starting position of the pieces. I would really appreciate adding different time control rating for chess960 on Lichess. I just wanted to explain why it is not added to Lichess (yet(perhaps they will add it in future)).

OK. So do I. Although I have given up insisting that Lichess 'had to' split its chess960 rating list into several subcategories, I come back with this suggestion now, because finally there is someone not just enthusiastic about making Lichess ratings more accurate but also capable of implementing it (unlike myself).

This will weigh more the longer games than the faster ones. It also compensates their relative frequencies (longer games are much fewer so need more weight).

I think that, no matter the variant, blitz/rapid/classical will correlate well, and bullet/hyper/ultra will correlate well with each-other. So we can simply have two rating lists per variant, and maybe in normal chess too.
2 dim of ratings.. now that can't be bad. would stretch the minds and make clear that there is a lot of room for interpretation, in the first place. That chess skill set is not just one number.
