Lichess 300 move rule forced draw

500 moves make more sense, but this is dumb anyway. What if I want to prove that the longest chess game possible is 8848 moves and upload an example of such (with a text proof that no more is possible)? There should be a limitation for me for the speed I can alter the database (from one IP, for example), but limiting it by ALTERING THE CHESS RULES seems an unproper way to do this.
As far as I know, nothing forbids you to create a study chapter which is 8848 moves long. And even if there were a limit, say at 300 moves, you could divide your 8848-moves long game into 30 chapters.
Studies are limited too. Everything gets abused and everything gets limited, it's that simple. Call that altering the rules if you want.

Even forum posts length is limited. Call that censorship if you want.

I'll do what's necessary to ensure we can keep playing legit games and publish legit posts, at the expense of troll games and troll posts.
And all lichess members thank you and the developers for the efforts you put in making lichess a free and secure site.
300 moves is quite a reasonable restriction, especially for bot games which will fry their motherboards trying to win for hundreds of moves dead draw endgames, only making a pawn move every 50 moves. My longest recorded game (out of 45K games) against a human was 137 moves and against a bot 266 moves. I have had some games against bots over 300 moves but I do not believe many software allow to save such games.
On reflection, if the restriction is really needed to keep everything running smoothly then that's fine by me :-)

PS I love lichess - it's an awesome site!
In This given example draw was good solution. black was not trying towin with normal means. No point letting that go on
