the 180 + 180 game?

It’s not meant to run out of time, it’s just to help beginners/intermediates with using their time to find good moves
It still seems extravagant. Wouldn't a 120 +10 serve the same purpose? But you don't see too many of those games in the lobby whereas 180 +180 pops up all the time.

180 + 180 seems to much. 30 + 0 should be maximum time control.

I don't play it but I think 180+180 would be good because I still get very low on time even in like 90+30 matches just don't have time for any longer but 180+180 would be really nice for me
It's pretty easy: it's the longest time control you can choose. That's the reason it's chosen more often than other time controls. And for someone who don't want to have time problems in guarantee, even in most complicated games, why not chose the longest possible.
The main reason I would choose this over say for example, Correspondence, is that if my opponent falls asleep, they run out of time. In correspondence chess you have at least 24 hours for one move, plus people are legally allowed to cheat. In 180 180 it is still bound by the rules, but as long as you don't fall asleep you will not run out of time. The only reason why I don't do it is because people will actually let the clock run out just to troll you, so that's the drawback. But if you open multiple tabs and play a handful of games all at once, starting in the morning, you can have a bunch of good long games to play for hours. And you can watch you tube or whatever while you wait. You get a popup notification when it's your turn. If you play five games at once it works out pretty well. The rating should be your bullet rating plus 3-400. This is based upon a statistical rating analysis. So if your 1800 bullet you should expect about 2100-2200 classical. (on lichess, not OTB) Lichess ratings are overinflated by 300 points compared to OTB.
