No more blitz...I promise!

Last day of blitz today. Got back to 2000+ ELO, why it matters so much as mental goal, I have no clue.

Now back to training! Strategy, then tactics!
Blitz is good training for both fast and slow chess. I think you should keep going
<Post 2>:

It's good to test out your openings and see how fast your tactics unfold, but otherwise blitz is not all that great for chess development OTB. In my opinion at least.
<Post 3>:

Yes sir, its good to challenge oneself into staying at 2000+ Elo or beyond. I've rocked some 2100s in blitz and my software trainer says my calculation ability is over 2150+.

My openings need work, my endgame all the more.

But Carlsen has the most lifeless openings and creates initiative anyway ;)
I play both tactics and blitz even after I reached 2000+ in blitz.
You don't have to choose one of them.
You can continue playing blitz if you think it's fun.
<Blitz is fun but not useful for training.>

Exactly. You use a lot of intuition in blitz, and instant calculation.

I read from a GM excerpt once (not word for word):

"When believe you've found the best/strongest move, look again, there's likely a better one."

In order words, re-check, re-check, re-check your calculation. ;)
You can't find the best moves if you don't look for them, and you can't look for them if you don't have time.
I disagree that blitz is not useful. In chess one really important point in playing strength is pattern recognition. And in blitz you get a lot of patterns. Yes, blitz alone won't make you a GM (unless your name is Eric Hansen ^^ ) but together with other training (mostly tactics) you can definitely improve with it.
Also if it is fun for you you should definitely do it anyway because you can only improve your game when you have fun playing. ;)
