Which is Better for White to Learn, KIA or King's Gambit?

If you chose the KG as your main weapon OTB ur gonna have a bad time.
how about two knights defence with many sharp variants? Or Evans Gambit? Or Scotch gambit) For 1... c5 - Alapin or Smith-Mor
In Ruy Lopez for black you can play 3... f5 =)
P.S. Also like Morphy and Tal' )))
I strongly suggest you learn PAWN STRUCTURES, and then you slowly move to the opening that leads to the pawn structure you learnt. Ex : Learn Carlsbad pawn structure, then Isolated Queen Pawn and learn carefully and deeply Exchange variation from Queen's Gambit or Slav.. then learn some easy structure from Trompovsky or Torre Attack and you re almost good to go to play... d4.
It's a long term investment, but you will not regret it. You will learn real chess and positional play and not simply learn quick tricks or tactical because you win a chess game you need MUCH more than that..

For black, play low maintenance opening also like Scandinavian (i suggest the Qd8 variation) and you will have almost no problem facing d4 with d5 as you study QGD with white.

If you want to have fun sometimes, KIA is clearly a good option, but it's a SYSTEM more than an opening as such, very flexible, but dont consider it as a main weapon.

Last but not least, if you really want to improve and plan to plan chess for years, get a COACH. You can find some good at affordable rates, and you will really make impressive progress. A good coach will analyse you games, and make the necessary recommandations in every aspects of the game. And sorry no, i dont have any coach names to recommand, just read the reviews, and give it a try. Feel free to change if you are not satisfied.

Good luck
@starfix00 what you recommend is far from the intention of the original poster. There are styles and preferences. What one person likes, the other finds boring.

Here is another example to show that the King's Gambit is playable over the board at any level.

Yes, I'm looking and leaning toward that Bc4 version of KG. What do you do when Black declines though? Say they play 2...d6 or 2...Nc6 or 2...Qf6 ? Do I play d3 or Nf3 or Nc3?? Seems it's hard to get that Bc4 in if they decline. Am just saying, most of the 1300-1500 players I play, will be suspicious and decline the pawn on the 2nd move. Am looking maybe at buying that Fascinating KG by Johansson which I think specializes on 3.Bc4
If they decline with these moves you should be pretty happy in my opinion. The best ways to decline the gambit are either d5 (Falkbeer countergambit) or Bc5.

Black's bishop is annoying on c5 (I guess you know you can't take on e5) and it is pretty much the last opportunity for black to put it there. If he plays d6 instead, it's pretty clear that the bishop is behind the pawn and if he plays Nc6, white then plays Nf3 and black now needs to defend the e5 pawn and will then likely play d6 anyway.

As for the move Qf6 I never considered it but it looks very ugly since it takes the f6 square from the knight, and it is very vulnerable, a rook will come on f1 and the file will open or a knight will go to d5 or a pawn will go to e5 etc.
